Shatrughan Sinha says ‘khamosh’ to those spreading ‘lies’ ahead of Sonakshi Sinha-Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding, confirms attendance: ‘It’s none of your business’

Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter, actor Sonakshi Sinha, is all set to get married to her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal in Mumbai on June 23. And now, after weeks of speculation, the veteran actor has confirmed his attendance at the wedding. After recent reports suggested that the Sinha family might not be attending the wedding, Shatrughan said in an interview that his daughter has every right to choose her partner. He also added that Sonakshi and Zaheer “look very nice together.”

He shared with Zoom, “Tell me, whose life is it anyway? It’s just the life of my only daughter Sonakshi, whom I am very proud of and immensely fond of. She calls me the pillar of her strength. I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I and why won’t I? Her happiness is my happiness and vice versa. She has every right to choose her partner and the other details of her wedding.”

The actor-politician said that he was “extremely tied up” with his political work in Delhi, but the “very fact that I have still been in Mumbai conveys that I am here not only as her pillar of strength but as her real kavach (armour) as well.” Denying any rumours about tension amid the Sinha family, Shatrughan said that “fake news” was being spread by “frustrated” people. He said, “Those who are coming out with fake news are just sounding very frustrated with this joyous occasion as they are spreading nothing but lies. I would like to caution them with my signature dialogue: Khamosh, it’s none of your business. Mind only your business.”

Previously, film producer Pahlaj Nihalani, a family friend, told Times Now that while Shatrughan was upset with his daughter, he would be attending the wedding anyway. A week ago, Shatrughan told The Times of India that “if” his daughter was getting married, then he would support her decision. “Sonakshi has the right to choose her companion, and I will be the happiest father on her wedding day,” he said.

Festive offer

Rumours of a rift started when Shatrughan told Times Now that he was “waiting to be informed” about his daughter’s wedding. He said, “All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents).”
