Nothing CMF Phone 1 launch on July 8: Everything we know so far

Nothing’s sub-brand CMF is all set to launch its very first smartphone — the CMF Phone 1 on July 8. Going by the official teasers, it might not look anything like any of the previous phones from the brand but it is expected to come in a unique avatar, possibly with a modular design.

Here is everything we know so far about the CMF Phone 1 which, according to the company, is a smartphone that is “wonderful by design.”

Fully modular and colourful design

Official teasers and leaks clearly hint at the CMF Phone 1 being a completely modular smartphone. As a part of the design, the company is using actual screws, which is a bit unconventional. The CMF Phone 1 is likely to come in a plastic body, possibly in multiple colour options, including shades like vibrant orange, similar to the Power 65W fast charger and the CMF Neckband Pro.

Besides that, the CMF Phone 1 is likely to ship with a unique SIM card removal tool, which doubles as a screwdriver to make it easy to repair.

Large 6.7-inch screen with Dimensity 7300 SoC

Nothing has confirmed that the CMF Phone 1 will come with a large 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, possibly with a 120Hz refresh rate. And just like other smartphones from the brand, it is expected to be a flat panel display with a punch-hole cutout. Considering it is an OLED panel, the phone might even offer an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Festive offer

Nothing has also confirmed that the CMF Phone 1 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC with 8 GB of RAM along with support for virtual RAM expansion along with 128 GB of internal storage. The phone is expected to ship with Android 14-based Nothing OS, and we can expect similar software support as the previous phones from the brand.

Two cameras on the rear, one on the front

Every Nothing smartphone launched to date has come with a dual-camera setup at the rear, and the CMF Phone 1 is most likely to continue this trend. According to several leaks, the phone will have a 50 MP primary sensor, while there isn’t much information on the other sensors.

Lastly, the smartphone is expected to pack a 5,000 mAh battery, possibly with support for fast charging. The phone is most likely to come in a unique retail box and is very unlikely to include a charger in the box.

How much will it cost?

The CMF Phone 1 is touted to be the company’s most affordable phone, at least at launch. Considering the price of the Nothing Phone (2a), the CMF Phone 1 is expected to cost slightly less than Rs 20,000 in India, and the brand has already confirmed that the CMF Phone 1 will be available exclusively via Flipkart.
