Priyanka Chopra‘s former New York City restaurant, Sona, is preparing to shut its operations. Renowned for its modern Indian fare and sophisticated atmosphere, the restaurant was often frequented by celebrities, and was inaugurated with a special ‘pooja’ that saw Priyanka and her husband, Nick Jonas, in attendance. The establishment announced on Instagram that its last day of service will be June 30.
“After More than three remarkable years, Sona will be closing. We have immense gratitude for everyone who walked through our doors. It’s been our greatest honor to serve you,” read an excerpt from a statement posted on the restaurant’s official Instagram account. It further noted, “SONA’s final service will be brunch on Sunday, June 30.”
In 2021, Priyanka co- founded the New York City restaurant with Maneesh Goyal, and nearly two years later, she stepped away from the venture. As reported by People, the Dostana actor ended her partnership with Sona in 2023.
The statement from Priyanka’s representatives read, “Bringing Sona to life will invariably be a proud and significant moment in her career. Priyanka has always endeavoured to bring Indian culture to the fore through storytelling, whether that’s via engaging content for film and TV, or a beautifully plated dish that embodies the haute cuisine of India.”
Maneesh, co-founder of Sona and Priyanka’ friend, expressed that collaborating with Priyanka “has been a dream come true.” In a statement to People, he said, “We are grateful for her partnership and support. While she will no longer be involved as a creative partner, she remains part of the Sona family, and we look forward to our respective new chapters ahead.”
Priyanka, who is currently shooting for The Bluff, recently paid tribute to her late father on Father’s Day. She took to her Instagram stories to share a throwback photo of herself with her dad, Ashok Chopra. Along with the photo, she wrote, “Dearest papa – you’re always with me in my heart. Miss you papa.”
