First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

The office is headed by Sr. Adv. Pratap Narayan Sanghi sir. They have a team of 5 to 6 Advocates and the infrastructure of the office is really good. I worked under the guidance of Adv. Avadesh Narayan Sanghi sir.

First-Day Formalities & Impression: Everyone in the office is always busy and is most of the times filled with clients. When I reached the office, I was asked to wait in a room and then called to meet Adv. Avadesh sir. He is very sweet and friendly. He interviewed me, with some basic personal questions, interests, and why I chose Law. He then briefed me about my main tasks and I went on to meet the other team members. I felt welcomed and positive energy around the office.

Office Timings: 9:30 am to 8:00 pm.

Main Tasks

I was mainly assigned to do research work on Property cases and other civil cases relating to promotion. I was also assigned to edit Interim Applications, General Power of Attorney, and Legal Notices.
Interns are usually asked to report to the High Court and other Lower Courts every day, and from there we are welcome to travel back with sir to the office. At the Courts, I was asked to observe the proceedings, and, sometimes, asked to prepare case briefs for sir to refer to.

Work Environment

As I have mentioned earlier, Sanghi Law Chamber is a very friendly and warm place to work at. And everyone there is very welcoming and helpful. They are always willing to guide students. A good and healthy work environment is a very important requirement for me, and I was wholly content with the same.

Pratap Sir, Avadesh Sir, and Anusha Ma’am are always available for any queries and they interact actively with the interns. The other Associates, too, are always there to help the interns.

Good things

It is a great place to intern for the 1st to 3rd year students. Since they deal with Civil cases in the High Court and Lower Courts, one gets to learn the basic concepts of filing a Suit, how the proceedings take place, how to read a case file and prepare a case brief, court mannerisms, etc.

The students of 4th and 5th year too can intern at this place, as there is always an opportunity to learn and seniors who are willing to guide.

One of the best things about interning here is, that you get a lunch party! Avadesh Sir takes the team and interns for Lunch at a place close to the High Court and he makes sure to interact with everyone and keep everyone involved.

I always went and sat in sir’s cabin, and often observed how he would talk to the client, ask questions and note down important information. Once, I also got the chance to conduct a client interview (interviewing a new client to prepare the timeline, and understand their issue).

On the last day of the internship, Avadesh sir makes sure to have a feedback discussion. This is something which is often rarely seen at other offices.

Bad Things

There is no bad things as such.

The office provides a great learning opportunity for everyone and is open for all, irrespective of the College or Year of study.

However, one thing that I expected out of the internship was, to learn drafting too. Nevertheless, I got to learn research skills and enhanced my soft skills, so that, makes up for it.

Stipend

Yes. Rs. 2,100.
