‘How can Shinde-Fadnavis govt with support of 200 MLAs be unstable?’, Ajit Pawar responds after Supriya Sule’s remark

A day after Baramati MP and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Supriya Sule raised doubts about the stability of the Shinde-Fadnavis government, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who heads the NCP’s breakaway faction, has countered the contention.

Without taking Sule’s name, Ajit told reporters in Karad, “How can anyone say that a government which has the support of 200 MLAs is unstable?”

On Friday, Sule said that the people of Maharashtra have been hit hard as the ruling government in the state was unable to provide stability despite having 200 MLAs. Maharashtra’s development has come to a halt in the last one and a half years, which is worrisome, she added.

Responding to the allegations, Ajit Pawar said the state government was doing its work. “Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is giving priority to development works… The Mahayuti government is doing good work under the leadership of Eknath Shinde. We will soon hold a meeting of district collectors. Deputy Chief Minister (Devendra Fadnavis) and I will attend the meeting which will be presided over by the Chief Minister,” he added.

Ajit Pawar, who arrived in Karad from Pune on Saturday morning, also paid floral tributes at the samadhi of former chief minister Yashwantrao Chavan.

Festive offer

On Friday, Sule also requested that all construction works in Pune be brought to a halt in view of the rising pollution and shortage of water. To this, Ajit Pawar said, “The chief minister will be holding a discussion on the drought-like situation in different parts of the state.”
