Hema Malini reveals a filmmaker wanted her to remove pin from her saree; claims Satyam Shivam Sundaram was offered to her first

Hema Malini, fondly addressed as the ‘Dream Girl’, has never minced words while talking about her career or wedding with Dharmendra. In a recent interview, the yesteryear superstar shared how she faced a harrowing time with some filmmakers. She also revealed how Raj Kapoor approached her to do Satyam Shivam Sundaram, even though he knew she wouldn’t do a film like that.

In a recent interview, the actor spoke about how a director wanted her to remove the pin from her saree pallu. “He wanted to shoot some kind of a scene. I always put a pin on my saree. I said, ‘saree niche gir jayegi’ (the loose end will slide down). They said that’s what we want,” the actor said, looking visibly upset.

She also opened up about how today’s filmmakers don’t take the pain to make their actors look good. Hema Malini added that given filming is too challenging these days, she doesn’t think she will want to work again.

Talking about Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Malini shared that Raj Kapoor came and told her about the film. “He said this is such a film, you will not do it but I am keen that you do it,” she shared. Hema Malini added that her mother, who was sitting beside her, also moved her head in dismissal.

Recently, Dharmendra made headlines after he shared a social media post seemingly apologising to Hema and their two daughters for not personally calling them to invite them to his grandson Karan Deol’s wedding. Karan is Sunny Deol’s son. He tied the knot with Drisha Acharya recently, but Hema’s and her two daughters didn’t attend the festivities.

In the said interview, Hema Malini also opened up about how Dharmendra was always there for their daughters – Esha and Ahana. Hema also recalled how worried he was about getting them married.

She said, “I have my two children, they are brought up very well and he (Dharmendra) is always there. That is the best part, he is always there.” The Baghban actor added, “Actually he was worried, shaadi hona chaiye bachchon ka jaldi (The gets should get married quickly).’ I said ‘Hoga (It’ll happen).’ When the time is right, the right person will come around. With the blessings of god and guru ma, everything happened.”

Hema Malini and Dharmendra starred together in films like Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta and Kinara among others. Malini had recently called her marriage unconventional and in an interview with Bombay Times, she said, “If my marriage had been a conventional one, I think I would have been a nobody. Today, I am doing all this-films, dance, going to places for talks, being in politics-itna sab kuch kaise hota if it was a conventional life.”

Dharmendra will next be seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
