Delhi Confidential: Poll ‘Promise’

RPI(A) chief and MoS for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale is known for his one liners and tongue-in-cheek humour. His ability to lighten the mood in serious situations was on display on Wednesday at an event on Drug-Free India Movement. Athawale, while reassuring anti-drugs campaigners that they will get all the support from the government, said in a lighter vein that those who have successfully rid themselves of addiction would be helped to participate in politics and may even get a ticket to contest polls, leaving the audience in splits.

No Free Publicity

Senior officers at Delhi Police headquarters have asked all the DCPs to avoid using fancy phrases to refer to dreaded gangsters in their press releases. They have been asked to identify the gangsters as “normal criminals” and mention only their involvement in different crimes in their press notes. The idea behind this move is to break the morale of the jailed gangsters and their associates, who often highlight such press clippings on their social media accounts.

Jostling For Space

Speaking at the India Space Congress, Inspace chairperson Pawan Goenka took note of the packed banquet hall and the people standing at the back to listen to the guests. He said that over the last couple of years, space conferences have grown bigger and bigger in size, with an increasing participation of foreign delegates. He said the space industry is now moving at the speed of an orbiting satellite.
